ReSilience of long-lived MARine sTructural species in a changing world: towards a sustainable coastal management and restoration (SMART)

Ignasi Montero Serra is a PhD student at the Department of Ecology, University of Barcelona. His PhD project aims to understand the effects of multiple human-induced perturbation on the spatial and temporal dynamics of key Mediterranean benthic species by applying quantitative tools. The main goal is to evaluate the resilience of these communities under different management scenarios and to improve the conservation strategies. Ignasi is supported by a FPI Scholarship from the SMART Project (Spanish Minister of Economy) and advised by Dra. Cristina Linares (UB) and Dr. Joaquim Garrabou (ICM-CSIC). Previously, Ignasi collaborated in several conservation projects at the Galapagos Marine Reserve (Ecuador) and worked in a project evaluating climatic warming effects on European shelf seas at the University of Bristol (UK).
